Common Elements: Text, Images & Buttons

By the end of this module you will be able to edit text with inline editing, swap an image via the Media Library, and change a button’s label and link — the three edits that cover most real-world updates.

1. Text: in Avada Live, click into a Text element and simply type — inline editing works like a document. Use the mini toolbar for bold, italics, and lists.
2. Paste rule: when pasting text copied from Word or an email, paste without formatting (Ctrl+Shift+V on Windows, Cmd+Shift+V on Mac) so foreign fonts and colors don’t smuggle in.
3. Image: click the image, then open its settings from the hover toolbar (pencil icon). In the settings panel, replace the image — the Media Library opens, where you can pick an existing file or upload a new one (Module 3 skills).
4. Button: open the Button element’s settings. Change only two fields: the button text and the link (URL). Everything else in that panel is styling — leave it.
5. The settings-panel principle: every element opens the same kind of panel. You only ever need the content fields near the top — never the Design or styling tabs. Styling is set site-wide so every page matches; changing it per-element is how sites drift into a mess.

• Fix a typo somewhere on a quiet page (or introduce one and fix it).
• Swap one image on a quiet page, check it live, then swap it back.
• Change a button’s label and change it back.

Common mistakes to avoid

• Touching Design-tab options. Colors, sizes, and spacing are set globally by your designer. Content: yes. Design: request it.
• Pasting formatted text from Word. It carries hidden fonts and colors that fight your site’s design. Paste without formatting, always.
• Linking a button without https://. External links need the full address, e.g. https://example.com — not just example.com.
• Resizing images by dragging. The design sizes images automatically. If an image looks wrong, tell GM&F rather than stretching it.
